Resume - Mehmet Gormez

Vice President of Religious Affairs 2003, and Head of Religious Affairs 2010.

Bachelor’s, and Postgraduate Degree in Hadeeth Department, Faculty of Divines, Ankara University, 1987. Worked as a member of the Religious Affairs Directorate of Ankara and Kirikkale, Turkey, scholarshiped to Cairo University for studies and research for one-year by the Ministry of National Education in 1988, discussed his MA ‘Mousa Jaralllah Bigieve, Life, Ideas, Works, 1990, which was translated into Russian. His PhD dissertation “Methodological Problem in Understanding and Interpretation of Sunna and Hadeeth”, 1995, ranked 1^st in Islamic Research Award of Turkiye Diyanet Foundation, 1996. Taught for two years at the Faculty of Divines, at Ahmad Yassaviy, and was entrusted the preparation of Higher Institute of Divinity the program, Anadolu University.

Professor Gormez Spent 2 years in England in Studies and Research, Assistant Professor, 1998, Associate Professor, 1999, Named Professor, 2006, lectured at the Faculty of Education Hacettepe University, 2001-2003.

Wrote a Chapter in the Book “The Problem of Rooting Al-Sunna Status”. Four of his 5 books were translated into Turkish.

Published several research papers in the Journal of the Faculty of Divines, the Journal of Religious Sciences, the Journal of Islamiat, and the Journal of Islamic Research.

He also wrote in various scientific fields, participated in many conferences inside and outside Turkey. Several of his conferences and symposia scientific papers were published by Turkiye Diyanet Foundation, Directorate of Religious Affairs.
