Résumé

This paper analyzes the short story collection (Hawaf Taktaniz Humrah) [Edges Mixed with Red] by the writer Ibrahim Mohammad Shahbi. The study aims to understand the formation of these passions in this collection and the semantics they give rise to, and to exploring their paths. The paper uses the Semiotics of Passions as an approach. The study attempts to answer the following questions: (1) How does passion appear in the story collection? (2) How does it show the behavior of the self and diagnose its emotions? (3) what are its indications? and (4) how does the path of passion appear in this collection? The paper has been divided into introduction, preface, and two sections. The introduction describes the lines of the research, its approach and methodology, and the preface touched on the theoretical dimensions related to passions which are pertinent to the research. The first section discusses the formation of passions in the collection and its implications, while the second one analyses the emotional path. The paper concluded that the passional element has been diversified in this collection, which is a diversity that confirms the richness of this collection and the diversity of emotions in it––they are emotions resulting from external stimuli that work to direct them and the movement of subjects, and then their transition from the depth of the self (inside) to its surface (outside). Regarding many of these passions and emotions, the passional paths have, they work to reveal the actual ability of the self-representation in knowing the passional act and what it works to create in the self and then the ability to accomplish it, and also reveal the extent to which it has been reflected in the features of the self and the recipient’s view about these passions. The research recommends studying the important textual thresholds in this collection of stories.
