Abstract

This paper reports and discusses the competitive priorities in two different Kuwaiti industries. It also investigates the impact of plant site and type of industry on these priorities. Findings indicate that plant size is an indicator of the emphasis on some priorities. The there size groups differ significantly in the emphasis on on-time delivery and flexibility, but not on quality improvement, cost reduction, and innovativeness. The two industries do not differ significantly in their level of focus on all priorities. Delivery and quality are the two main competitive priorities in both. The study does not support the competitive priorities trade-off model.
