Purpose: This study aims to examine the direct relationship between prudent governance—defined by its five dimensions—and job performance quality.
Study design/methodology/approach: A structured questionnaire was employed to measure the study variables and test the proposed hypotheses.
Sample and data: The study was conducted with a sample of 219 personnel from the Hail City Health Directorate.
Results: The findings indicate a significant positive impact of the five dimensions of prudent governance (transparency, accountability, justice, integrity, and participation) on job performance. Specifically, higher adherence to prudent governance principles correlates with improved job performance. Additionally, a positive and significant relationship was found between prudent governance and job satisfaction, with higher governance practices leading to greater job satisfaction. Job satisfaction was shown to fully mediate the relationship between prudent governance and job performance.
Originality/value: This study examines the relationship between prudent governance and job performance within the underexplored context of regional administrative centers, such as Hail City in Saudi Arabia. The findings provide valuable insights applicable to similar cities.
Research limitations/implications: The study's findings are based on a sample from the Hail City Health Directorate, limiting its generalizability to similar sectors or regions.
